== Compressed-air safety ==

=== Industry education ===

Colby was involved in educating paintball operators about compressed-air safety.

The increasing use of HPA created a need for training in cylinder handling, fittings, filling procedures and accident prevention.

=== 2003 industry conference ===

At the 2003 International Amateur Open industry conference, Colby and Air America staff conducted a workshop on compressed-air safety.[10]

WARPIG's contemporary report identified the workshop as covering:

* Accident prevention
* Selection of appropriate fittings
* Filling procedures
* Safe handling of compressed-air equipment

=== Importance ===

Compressed-air systems involve substantially higher storage pressures than traditional low-pressure CO2 arrangements.

Appropriate equipment, maintenance and operating procedures are therefore important for safe field operations.

Colby's involvement in industry education formed part of his wider contribution to the adoption of HPA.
