Rolleston organised the [[2002 Northland Open]] after Brent Matthews, who had organised previous editions in Whangārei, was unable to run that year's tournament. Eight teams competed in seven-player, two-flag games under [[New Zealand Paintball Players Association|NZPPA]] rules. [[Phantom (New Zealand Paintball Team)|Phantom]] and [[Kamo Karzi]] provided referees. [[Saints (New Zealand paintball team)|Saints]] won Division One and [[Tag and Training]] won Division Two.[2]

Paintball West also ran a monthly three-player league at Kumeu. The March 2002 report described centre-flag games on the Sup'Air field and identified Rolleston as the organiser, field owner and a member of Phantom. March was the second completed round of the planned ten-round competition.[3]
