The tournament took place in November 2000. Organiser [[Brian Thornley]] described it as an opportunity for players without open-class tournament experience to try competitive paintball while limiting costs.[1][2]

Four teams competed: Damage Inc from Christchurch, Southern Raiders from Invercargill, Triple H from Gore and Foo Fighters from Dunedin. Triple H was an abbreviated name for Hokonui HeadHunters. Foo Fighters entered with four players despite the five-player format.[1]

Games were played among pine trees and barricades, with an allowance of 200 paintballs per player per end. Each team played every other team twice, changing ends between the morning and afternoon rounds. The two leading teams qualified for a two-end final.[1]

Damage Inc led Southern Raiders 45–0 after the first end of the final and won 55–40 overall.[1]
