=== Origins === Airgun Designs developed from the engineering and manufacturing activities of Technacore Industries, a business operated by Tom Kaye. In a 1994 interview with ''Australian Paintballer'', Kaye explained that the business entered the paintball industry in 1987 after losing a major industrial manufacturing contract. Technacore began producing protective masks for [[Pursuit Marketing Inc.]] (PMI), eventually manufacturing approximately 40,000 units.[1] Kaye subsequently developed equipment for Sheridan-based paintball markers, including the Turbo Valve, Micro CA and 6-Pak COβ cartridge-changing system. Historical sources differ on the precise establishment date. Kaye stated in 2001 that he had been manufacturing paintball equipment since 1986, while a WARPIG interview identified 1988 as the formation of Airgun Designs under its own name.[2][5]
