== Professional roster restrictions == The event followed a change to the league's restrictions on NXL professional-ranked players. Contemporary reporting published on 5 November 2021 recorded a vote by 23 ICPL professional team captains. By 14 votes to nine, the captains supported limiting professional teams to three NXL professional-ranked players, with players over the age of 44 excluded from that count.[3] The previous arrangement had allowed an unrestricted number of professional-ranked players provided their combined classification points did not exceed 62,000. A separate vote retained the existing mechanical-marker rate-of-fire rules by 17 votes to six.[3]
