== Relationship with Asian paintball == The UPBF's early history is closely connected to the development of organised competitive paintball in Asia. The [[Asia Pacific Paintball Federation]] was identified as one of the UPBF's continental organisations in its January 2006 announcement. The [[Paintball Asia League Series]] was among the earliest international tournament circuits to publicly announce its participation in the UPBF. Its January 2006 announcement outlined the intended relationship between regional competition organisers and the emerging international governing structure. [1] Malaysia played a significant role in this period through the development of the [[Nation Cup 2004]], the [[Asia Pacific Paintball Championship]] and the Paintball Asia League Series. These developments preceded the later expansion of UPBF national-team championships. The Malaysian Nation Cup of 2004 should not be confused with the UPBF World Championship or later competitions using the Nations Cup name.
