=== Origins === One of Bukowski's most significant contributions to paintball was his involvement in the development of early spectator-oriented tournament formats. During the 1980s, most organised paintball competitions were played on woodland fields. These environments were often difficult for spectators to follow because players could remain concealed behind trees and natural terrain. Bukowski and the SC Village organisation experimented with smaller, more open playing environments intended to produce faster games. According to SC Village's official history, an early form of '''Speedball''' debuted at the park in 1989.[3]
