== History == === Establishment === Hawkes Bay Paintball Club Incorporated was registered as a New Zealand incorporated society on 26 April 1995. The organisation was registered under society number 642367, with its registered address at 240 Flaxmere Avenue, Hastings. [1] The club was part of the organised paintball community that developed in New Zealand during the 1990s. By the end of the decade, it was involved in organising tournaments that attracted players from Hawke's Bay and other North Island regions. === Hawkes Bay Triples === The club was a co-organiser of the Hawkes Bay Triples, an annual three-player tournament. A surviving tournament announcement published by the New Zealand paintball team Mercenaries Star identifies Paintball Hawke's Bay and Hawke's Bay Paintball Club as the event's organisers. [2] The competition attracted teams from throughout the lower North Island, including Wellington, Kāpiti, Taranaki, Manawatū, Taupō and Hawke's Bay. The Mercenaries Star tournament calendar described the Hawkes Bay Triples as an established regional event on the New Zealand competitive paintball calendar. [3] The same historical calendar reported that the competition had evolved from Fantasyland, an earlier recreational paintball event held in Hawke's Bay. === Hawkes Bay Triples 1999 === The 1999 Hawkes Bay Triples featured eight teams from Hawke's Bay and other North Island regions. The participating teams were: * House Steiner Red (Wellington) * House Steiner Blue (Wellington) * The Boys From The Black Stuff (Hawke's Bay) * Kāpiti Assassins (Kāpiti) * Commando Paintball Club (Taupō) * Warp Speed (Napier) * The Bay Boys (Hawke's Bay) * Vipers (New Plymouth) The final was contested by the two Wellington-based House Steiner teams. House Steiner Red won the tournament, defeating House Steiner Blue. The Boys From The Black Stuff finished third. [4] The competition demonstrated the regional nature of tournament paintball in New Zealand during the late 1990s. === Hawkes Bay Triples 2000 === The Hawkes Bay Triples returned on 6 and 7 February 2000. The event was held at Paintball Hawke's Bay's Pines Paintball Field, located on State Highway 50 at Roys Hill, near Hastings. The tournament was jointly presented by Paintball Hawke's Bay and Hawke's Bay Paintball Club. [2] The published event conditions specified: * Three-player competition * Open division * Limited-paint format * Maximum of 100 paintballs per player * NZ$30 team entry fee * Paintballs priced at NZ$0.10 each * Field-supplied or bring-your-own paintballs, subject to restrictions * Players required to supply their own compressed-air or nitrogen equipment The tournament announcement permitted teams to register up to five players. Les Hall was named as the event contact, with registrations directed to an address on Norton Road in Hastings. ==== Tournament results ==== Eleven teams participated in the 2000 tournament. The archived final standings were: {| class="wikitable" ! Position ! Team !
