DKPL
DKPL (Dansk Paintball Liga, English: Danish Paintball League) is a Danish competitive paintball league and organisation listed in the membership directory of the United Paintball Federation (UPBF).[1]
DKPL organises domestic tournament paintball competitions in Denmark, including three-player tournaments contested over multiple events during a season.[2][3]
History
[edit]Danish tournament paintball
[edit]Denmark has a history of organised tournament paintball dating back to at least the 1990s.
Competitions using the name Dansk Paintball Liga and the abbreviation DPL were documented during the 2000s. Contemporary records from 2009 identify a five-event national series involving teams from different parts of Denmark.[4]
A 2017 listing identified Paintball Deluxe, Copenhagen Paintball Arena and Odense Paintball as organisers of the earlier DPL competition.[5]
Although the earlier league shared the Dansk Paintball Liga name, the available documentation does not establish an uninterrupted organisational relationship with the present DKPL.
DKPL competition
[edit]The current DKPL tournament series is documented from at least 2024.
An announcement published by Danish paintball equipment retailer Arms Gallery on 29 April 2024 identified three scheduled DKPL tournaments at MidtjyskEVENT in Give, Denmark.[2]
The events were scheduled for 14 April, 12 May and 29 September 2024, using a three-player competition format.
Arms Gallery supported the competition by providing equipment and described the series as a new league project intended to support Danish tournament paintball.
2025 season
[edit]DKPL continued operating in 2025, with tournaments hosted at MidtjyskEVENT.
The opening round took place on 30 March 2025 and attracted ten participating teams from across Denmark.[3]
Participating teams included Toxic Army, Greenhorn, Maniacs Green, Maniacs White, Rabbits, Monstars, Dragons, Balladen, Devils and Heavy Hitters.
Toxic Army won the opening event, defeating Greenhorn 3–0 in the final. Maniacs Green finished third.[3]
2026 season
[edit]The 2026 DKPL season consisted of three scheduled events, held on 15 March, 12 April and 11 October.
The competition retained the three-player format, with matches played on five-player tournament field layouts.[6]
Participating teams were required to register for the complete three-event season, with an announced entry fee of DKK 2,000 per team.
The league continued using MidtjyskEVENT as its tournament venue.
International affiliation
[edit]DKPL is listed in the United Paintball Federation's international membership directory.[1]
The UPBF recognises national paintball organisations, associations and leagues involved in international competition and the development of the sport.[7]
The precise date of DKPL's admission and its membership classification have not been independently established from publicly accessible records.
Denmark at the 2026 World Championship
[edit]Denmark made its first appearance at the UPBF Paintball World Championship on 2–3 September 2026 at ACE Paintball in Dreux, France.[8]
The Danish Veterans team reached the quarter-finals after finishing second in its preliminary group.
Denmark was eliminated by Poland, losing 4–1 in the quarter-finals.[9]
The available published championship reports do not specify the extent of DKPL's involvement in national team selection or administration.
