Replace with the verified 2023 US calendar, Open ten-player results and recorded season standings; distinguish proposed professional classification from actual records, correct New York placings, and preserve unresolved Gateway results and championship implications.

New page

The '''2023 WCPL season''' was a United States tournament season of the [[World Classic Paintball League]]. Five events contributed results to its published Open 10v10 standings, with an additional Gateway tournament announced for October.[1][2]

Toxic Teddys finished first in the recorded standings with 297.75 points, ahead of Ironmen and Team Crowley WCPL. The standings list a single Open ten-player division rather than separate professional and amateur championships.[1]

== Formats and organisation ==
The WCPL's contemporary competition guide described ten-player capture-the-flag games played on woodland and mound fields. Its standard programme specified twelve-minute games and eight preliminary games per team, although individual event listings could specify different arrangements.[3]

Mechanical markers were encouraged. Electronic markers were permitted with a maximum firing rate of 5.5 balls per second. The league used its own player-ranking arrangements within APPA/PBLeagues and stated that participation would not affect a player's classification at other events using that system.[3]

Each event was administered by its individual promoter. The league explained that entry fees were collected directly by promoters, so payment figures displayed on PBLeagues did not necessarily represent attendance.[3]

=== Professional classification ===
The league's earlier FAQ proposed identifying professional teams from the 2022 standings for the following season.[4] However, the published 2023 season standings use '''Open 10v10''', and the Montressor Classic registration likewise lists an Open division.[1][5]

The recorded results therefore support an Open season standings table. They do not establish a separate 2023 professional championship or a confirmed list of promoted professional teams.

== United States calendar ==
The first five events below have results in the published season standings. The October Gateway event was announced separately and is not included in that table.[1][2]

== Event results ==
The following podiums are recorded in the Open 10v10 season standings.[1] The Southern California league report additionally identifies its runner-up as '''OG Ironmen'''.[6]
=== Southern California ===
Ten teams attended the Southern California Classic. Dynasty Old School, OG Ironmen and Los Angeles Ironmen contested a three-team final round-robin, finishing in that order.[6]

=== New York ===
The New York Classic attracted fourteen teams. The league subsequently explained that the preliminary programme comprised two groups of seven, followed by cross-group games to give each team eight preliminary matches. The leading four teams then contested a final round-robin.[7]

The league announced completion of the score entry on 30 June 2023. The final PBLeagues rankings place UK Predators fifth, behind Automen Aces in fourth.[7][8]

=== Montressor and California ===
The Montressor Classic listed ten-minute Open ten-player games. The California Classic also advertised ten-minute ten-player games, differing from the twelve-minute standard described in the league's general guide.[3][5][9]

=== Gateway record ===
The league announced the Gateway Classic for 14–15 October. On 9 November, Paintball Media advertised coverage of a WCPL Gateway Classic in its November issue.[2][10]

The published PBLeagues season standings contain no Gateway column or results. Its event placings and any contribution to a separate final championship announcement are not established by that standings record.[1]
