New page

The 2007 PSP season was a five-event United States paintball tournament series organised by Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP). It included professional National Xball League (NXL) competition, Open and divisional X-Ball, and five-player tournaments.[1][2][3][4][5]

Los Angeles Ironmen won the NXL championship through the season-ending World Cup play-offs. San Diego Aftermath won the Open X-Ball season title, Vicious won Division 2 X-Ball and DBS Kidz won Division 3 X-Ball.[5]
Dates follow the PBLeagues event archive and contemporary reports.[1][2][3][4][6]

WARPIG identified the River City venue as “Council Bluffs Recreation Center”, while describing its location as Omaha, Nebraska. Its report is the source of that venue wording.[4]

World Cup's wider programme began on 23 October with field walking and trade-show activity; competition began on 24 October.[5][6]

Competition formats
The main X-Ball categories were the professional NXL division, Open, Division 2 and Division 3. Open admitted Division 1 teams and professional or semi-professional teams outside the NXL.[1]

Divisional teams generally played four preliminary matches before advancement rounds. Division 3 used a race-to-five format, with a match ending when one team reached five points.[3]

Five-player competition retained its separate tournament structure. At Los Angeles, teams played three games against each preliminary opponent and retained their best two scores from each pairing for advancement.[1]
The Mid-Atlantic Division 3 winner was named Sin City Paintball in WARPIG's report and Sin City Metal in the historical PBLeagues season table.[2][7]
Chicago also held Division 2 five-player competition, won by Flavor Explosion. At World Cup, swatpaintball.com's Warped Army won Division 2 five-player.[3][5]

Season championships
WARPIG's season-ending report identified the following overall champions, separately from the winners of the World Cup divisional tournaments.[5]

The surviving PBLeagues archive records the following multi-event divisional totals.[7]

Competition !! First !! Points !! Second !! Points
Division 4 five-player || DBS Paintball.com || 469.84 || Looseballs || 438.09

The present-day PBLeagues page does not preserve a complete multi-event Division 2 five-player championship table. DSSP8NTBALL.com's title is documented by WARPIG's contemporary report.[5][7]

NXL championship
Seeding standings
The first four tournaments determined NXL seeding for World Cup. Their accumulated points did not themselves decide the championship.[5]

APPA's contemporary pre-World Cup table recorded the following leaders.[8]

Las Vegas LTZ and San Diego Legacy withdrew before River City. Their scheduled preliminary opponents received byes.[4]

World Cup play-offs
Twelve teams entered the championship. Following preliminary play, the remaining eight contested best-of-three elimination series.[5]

The Ironmen defeated Boston Red Legion two matches to one in the championship final.[5]

The final championship order began with the Ironmen, Boston Red Legion, Dynasty and Seattle Naughty Dogs.[5]

Additional competitions
Chicago hosted an NXL East–West All-Star exhibition series. The East won the first two games 13–8 and 9–8, before the West won the third 10–7.[3]

EGO Maniacs won the World Cup Masters X-Ball competition, defeating Wild Bunch 5–1 in the final.[5]
