New page

The 2006 NPPL season was the fourth season of the National Professional Paintball League's Super 7 World Series, produced by Pure Promotions. Five United States tournaments offered seven-player competition in Professional, Semi-Pro and Divisions I–III.[1][2][3][4][5]

San Diego Dynasty won its fourth consecutive Super 7 professional series championship, finishing with 100 points, two ahead of Sacramento XSV. Miami Raiders won the Semi-Pro championship.[5]

Organisation and format
The Professional division remained restricted to eighteen teams. Semi-Pro was the highest open-entry classification, providing a route into Professional through season rankings.[1]

Professional preliminary competition used two groups of nine teams, with each team playing eight games. Four teams from each group advanced to a quarter-final round in which all eight qualifiers played one another. Four then progressed to the semi-finals and placing contests.[4]

Teams below Professional also played eight preliminary games. Quarter-final group sizes depended on the number of entrants in the classification.[3][4]

Season developments
Huntington Beach moved from the north side of its pier to the south side. The revised site brought the trade show closer to the playing fields.[1]

The Boston event introduced Gillette Stadium as a Super 7 venue, attracting 209 teams. Competition took place on five inflatable-bunker fields outside the stadium.[3]

The season ended at the Orange County Fairgrounds, replacing the previous year's Miami venue for the Commander's Cup.[5]
