New page

2004 Hamilton VComp was a paintball tournament held on 10–11 January 2004 at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton, New Zealand. Twelve teams competed. MacDev Factory Team, comprising Australian and New Zealand players, won ahead of Katipo and Menace. The event was organised by Brendon Charles and Peter Mumby.[1]

Format and venue
The tournament used Millennium rules, modified to accommodate an 80-metre by 40-metre playing field. The field contained 56 barricades and included a snake along the side nearest the spectator area.[1]

Preliminary matches took place on Saturday, followed by finals and exhibition games on Sunday. Qualification for the finals depended on accumulated points rather than the number of matches won.[1]

Results
MacDev Factory Team secured the tournament title by defeating Katipo in its last match. Further matches determined the remaining podium positions.[1]

International Hookem Cup
The event also hosted the inaugural International Hookem Cup, a separate best-of-three contest between New Zealand and Australia. The New Zealand side was selected towards the end of Sunday's competition.[1]

New Zealand won both games played, securing the cup 2–0 without requiring a third game.[1]
