The event was dedicated to the memory of Maurice Gibb.[1]

An organisers' press release recorded 91 participating teams, US$35,000 in cash and US$90,000 in prizes. Dynasty received US$20,000 for winning Professional.[4]

== Competition format ==
The event used seven-player competition and incorporated elements of the [[Millennium Series]] rules. Eight teams advanced to the quarter-finals in Professional, Amateur and Rookie, with sixteen advancing in Novice.[1]

Four teams per division progressed to paired semi-finals.
