New page

The 2000 NPPL season was the eighth season of the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL). Its five-event United States circuit comprised the Los Angeles Open, Pittsburgh Open, Chicago Open, Nashville Open and World Cup.[1][2][3][4][5]

The Southern California Ironmen won the professional season championship, Naughty Dogs won Amateur A and Team Strange won Amateur B. The Ironmen secured their championship by winning the professional 10-player World Cup.[5]
Dates and locations follow contemporary event coverage. Where an exact date range has not been established from the cited sources, only the month is given.[1][2][3][4][5]

The season opener moved from Las Vegas to SC Village in Southern California. Smart Parts returned its tournament to Pittsburgh after holding its 1999 event in Dallas.[1][2]

Nashville replaced Boston as the fourth stop. Despite the event's Nashville name, its venue was in Lebanon. The tournament offered only 10-player competition.[4]

Ten-player event winners
WARPIG's contemporary reports and ClassicScores record the following winners.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Event !! Professional !! Amateur A !! Amateur B

Lockout won the opening two professional tournaments. The Southern California Ironmen won Chicago, while Avalanche won Nashville.[1][2][3][4]

Five-player competition
Five-player classifications varied between tournaments. The following victories are documented in the event reports and ClassicScores.[1][2][3][6]

Event !! Competition !! Winner
Los Angeles Open || Amateur || C-Ya
Chicago Open || Amateur A || Rabid Virus 1
Chicago Open || Amateur B || Team Spank

World Cup offered separate professional, Amateur A, Amateur B and novice five-player competitions.[5]

World Cup
The Southern California Ironmen won professional 10-player, while the All Americans won professional five-player. Fusion won Amateur A 10-player and Team Strange won Amateur B 10-player.[5]

The following table distinguishes tournament winners from the season champions.[5][6]

Format !! Professional !! Amateur A !! Amateur B !! Novice
Ten-player || Southern California Ironmen || Fusion || Team Strange || Static
Five-player || All Americans || TC Factory Team / Consilium Dei || Team Strange || Team Strange

The novice categories were additional World Cup divisions created by dividing the Amateur B entries; WARPIG noted that novice was not an official NPPL classification.[5]

Season championships
WARPIG's closing report confirmed the following season champions.[5]

Division !! Season champion
Professional || Southern California Ironmen
Amateur A || Naughty Dogs
Amateur B || Team Strange

Lockout entered World Cup as a leading professional contender after winning two events and receiving refereeing points at the finale. The Southern California Ironmen needed first place at World Cup to win the season championship and achieved that result.[5]
