New page

The 2000 NPPL Pittsburgh Open was a National Professional Paintball League tournament held at Urban Assault in the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania on 5–6 May 2000. Produced by Smart Parts, it included five-man and ten-man competition.[1]

Lockout won professional ten-man, Bushwackers won Amateur A ten-man and Strange won Amateur B ten-man. Navarone won the five-man competition.[2][3][4]

Venue and organisation
Smart Parts returned its tournament to Pittsburgh after staging the 1999 event in Dallas. Playing areas included woodland, a mound field and a Sup'Air field on grass.[1]

The All Americans and OBR refereed the event. Despite forecasts of thunderstorms, the weather remained clear, with heat and humidity during the weekend.[1]

There were 54 ten-man teams and 30 five-man teams. All five-man games took place on one Sup'Air field separated from the ten-man playing areas by woodland.[1]

Equipment and rules
Enhanced firing modes, prohibited at the preceding Los Angeles Open, were permitted again at Pittsburgh with a reported limit of nine shots per second.[1]

Products displayed included the Smart Parts Impulse marker and Brass Eagle's muzzle-mounted chronograph.[1]

Ten-man results
Lockout's professional victory followed its win at the season-opening Los Angeles tournament.[1]

All tables show final-round scores. ClassicScores corroborates the placings.[2][4]
