New page

The 2000 NPPL Los Angeles Open was the opening tournament of the 2000 National Professional Paintball League season, held at SC Village in Corona, California, from 10 to 12 March 2000. Produced by Dave Youngblood and DYE Precision, it featured five-man and ten-man competition.[1]

Lockout won professional ten-man, Naughty Dogs won Amateur A ten-man and Liquid won Amateur B ten-man. C-Ya, Storm and Spider's Web won the amateur, novice and rookie five-man divisions respectively.[2][3][4]

Venue and organisation
The tournament moved the NPPL season opener from Las Vegas to Southern California. SC Village's SC Arenas included Sup'Air, Hyperball and mound fields, with raised spectator walkways and screening.[1]

The inflatable fields used buried pipes to supply air to the bunkers. Tournament staging and trade-show tents occupied raised ground overlooking the fields.[1]

The Southern California Ironmen, Outta Control and Bad Company refereed the event.[1]

Rules
WARPIG reported several changes for the 2000 season: barrels had to be removed in areas where goggles were not required; enhanced firing modes were prohibited; and team classification changes would take effect at the end of the season. Ten-man games were shortened to 15 minutes at tournaments played entirely on qualifying concept fields, excluding mound fields.[1]

Ten-man results
All tables show final-round scores. ClassicScores corroborates the placings.[2][4]
