New page

The 1998 NPPL World Cup was a National Professional Paintball League paintball tournament held at Paintball World in the Orlando area of Florida in October 1998. Promoted by Jerry Braun, it featured professional, Amateur A and Amateur B competition in five-man and ten-man formats.[1][2][3]

Avalanche won the professional five-man title, while Aftershock won the professional ten-man competition.[2][3][4]

Venue and playing fields
Braun consolidated tournament facilities at Paintball World, clearing woodland and developing additional playing areas. WARPIG reported that this allowed improvements to remain at the venue rather than relying on temporary facilities at neighbouring Old Town.[1]

Playing areas included woodland, Hyperball and Sup'Air Ball fields. The inflatable system used electric blowers and fabric air hoses to maintain inflation. For ten-man competition, the Sup'Air field was moved onto grass behind Old Town to provide a larger layout.[1]

Equipment regulations
Tournament rules permitted enhanced firing modes provided markers were not fully automatic and did not exceed 8.75 shots per second. Protective goggles and masks had to be independently tested for compliance with ASTM standards and could not be cut down.[1]

Five-man results
Avalanche won the professional final with 130 points. Jacksonville Warriors won Amateur A, while Car-Fonics won Amateur B.[2]
