New page

The '''1997 New York Cup''' was an announced [[paintball]] tournament scheduled for '''5–7 September 1997''' at Survival New York. A contemporary calendar billed it as the '''second annual New York Cup''' and advertised professional and amateur ten-man competition alongside a novice five-man division.[1]
== Advertised programme ==
The December 1996 issue of ''Paintball Sports'' announced a minimum of six games, a trade show and tens of thousands of US dollars in cash and prizes.[1]

The listing specified [[National Professional Paintball League|NPPL]] rules and NPPL-set entry fees, although it did not give the fee amounts.[1]

== Relationship to the NPPL ==
The contemporary announcement associated the planned tournament with NPPL playing rules and entry arrangements. It did not explicitly identify the event as an NPPL championship round.[1]
